Antiques
The accepted definition of an antique is an object that is 100 or more years old. I dislike the usage of “semi antique” used to describe items that are less than 100 years as it is confusing and is usually used only as a sales tool. The other words such as “genuine”, “original” and “rare” are also misleading and could have numerous meanings. Every object has what I call elements of value. Those elements have a profound effect on the ultimate value of the item. Refinishing, replaced hardware or poor restoration has a negative effect while a nicely worn finish, original but worn brass hardware that has been handled and touched by countless hands over the years has an irresistible allure to the collector.
